Don had idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and was blessed with a double lung transplant in May 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Released after 2 weeks, he returned home and had the care of his wonderful wife of 40 years, Peggy. Don’s recovery has been remarkable and he is forever grateful to his donor and her family. He pays it forward by volunteering for New England Donor Services, MGH, UMass Memorial Medical Center, and St. Vincent’s and Rhode Island Hospitals. He’s a person who will tell it like it is — from early symptoms to prognosis, surgery, recovery, medications, and to finances. Don and Peggy live in Uxbridge, MA, and are parents to two grown sons who they adopted and raised from birth. He is a graduate of Boston College, and a retreat Leader for Light of the World Catholic retreat program.
