El-Chemaly Lab

Dr. El-Chemaly’s clinical interest is in interstitial lung disease and lung transplant. He spends his clinical time attending on the in-patient lung transplant service. In addition, Dr. El-Chemaly is an active member of the ILD/lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) team, attending in clinic and actively participating in clinical trials at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

In the laboratory, Dr. El-Chemaly investigates the role of lymphatics and lymphangiogenesis in animal models of lung disease with a special focus on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Dr. El-Chemaly’s laboratory is also interested in the biology of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family of proteins and their contribution to fibroblast cellular homeostasis.
