Hunninghake Lab
Dr. Hunninghake’s clinical and research interests include identifying epidemiologic and genetic risk factors for interstitial lung disease.
While most of the national focus of ILD research is on advanced pulmonary fibrosis, Dr. Hunninghake’s research focuses on dentifying ILD in its early and/or asymptomatic stages. The hope is that risk factor modification and medical therapies will be more effective when instituted prior to the development of the architectural remodeling that comes with advanced pulmonary fibrosis. The goal is to build an unusually comprehensive profile of the early stages of pulmonary fibrosis. This work will continue a process that is already leading to new discoveries about the biology of pulmonary fibrosis.
