Morse Lab

Dr. Morse’s laboratory focuses on identifying the mechanism by which carbon monoxide, a naturally occurring product of cells, can alter the progression of fibrosis.

Laboratory members are exploring how carbon monoxide affects aspects of cellular growth, survival and quiescence. Dr. Morse is also investigating the factors that cause individuals with smoking related lung injury to develop fibrosis instead of emphysema and the relationship of these conditions to DNA damage and autophagy (a mechanism by which molecules and organelles can be recycled within the cell).
